• Avoid alcohol for one week before surgery and stop NSAIDs, aspirin, and supplements seven days prior

FUE vs. FUG: Understanding Your Hair Transplant Options

Two Hair Restoration Techniques Explained

Dr. Salloum offers both major hair transplant methods and recommends FUE for the majority of patients:

• Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE): Individual follicle groups are extracted from the donor area and transplanted into thinning or bald areas. Because no strip of tissue is removed, there is no linear scar and patients can wear short hairstyles without visible evidence of the procedure. Dr. Salloum's preferred technique for most patients.
• Follicular Unit Grafting (FUG): A strip of follicles is removed from the donor area, divided into smaller units, and transplanted. This method leaves a linear scar at the donor site, which most patients conceal with a longer hairstyle. May be appropriate in certain cases based on the patient's anatomy and degree of hair loss.
